Lovely.

Thursday, 23rd July, 2009

So, the fashion show last week turned out to be an awful lot of excitement for no reason – there was some mix-up and the bouncers at the nightclub wouldn’t let us in because we aren’t over 21. F’sake. When I got home I fired off a very testy email to the awfully nice Deirdre of quack + dirk, whose fashion show it was – sorry, Deirdre! She was more understanding than she should have been, and is going to send me a video of the fashion show and give me a discount the next time I’m in her shop. If anyone’s from Dublin, I’d suggest taking a bus up to Fairview and nipping in, even just for a look at all the wonderful dresses in there. Definitely visit the site and sign up for the newsletter, so you can hear about photo shoots, fashion shows, new stock and more.

Since the first attempt at cheering myself up didn’t happen, on Saturday I nipped into town with my mum and went on a charity shop tour. I spent a total of about ten euro and came away with one of the best hauls I’ve ever had – a lovely pair of mary-janes, a lace tablecloth and four napkins that can be used for making blouses and handkerchiefs, 1950s sewing patterns for a coat, skirt, blouse and jacket from this gem of a lady (the photos in the strip at the side were taken by the one and only Cáit), and best of all, a pair of high-waisted shorts that fit perfectly that I got for 75 cent!

Last night I finally pin-curled my hair, and, of course, forgot to take photos of the result, but it came out something like Katharine Hepburn:

What a woman.

What a woman.

Sadly, it got rained on and flopped a bit when Becky and I went in to pick up my new (old) bike from Francesca, who sold it to me for a very reasonable price.

Checking out the stats here is something of a novelty – I’ve never been in any way involved in a blog before this and watching the view count rocket up is exciting, to say the least. After a couple of really awful weeks at the tail end of a tough year or two, it’s been really encouraging to think that someone somewhere might be interested in what I have to say – so thank you! And if you have any suggestions or advice, please do let me know, I’m only learning so any help is much appreciated!
